An important message from Mark Burek and Steve Hovey

Dear Friends,

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, we will hold the Hope Soars Gala to benefit the Hope Soars Fund for Parkinson’s Research and Help for Parkinson’s, an organization dedicated to helping those dealing with Parkinson’s live their best possible life. The event will be held at the Colonie Country Club and will include complimentary valet parking.

This year’s event will celebrate the passing of the National Parkinson’s Act. Congressman Paul Tonko, a key contributor to the creation and passing of this extremely important legislation, will be our keynote speaker.

We are also very pleased to announce that Mark and Ann Burek will be our guest speakers for the evening.

The fun will start at 6:00 PM with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by dinner, dancing, a silent auction, and much more. Registration is available by clicking on this link - https://www.helpforpd.org/gala2024.

Why do we hold the Gala every year? The Gala allows us to enjoy spending time with others in our Parkinson’s community. People living with Parkinson’s, Care Partners, Doctors, and Researchers working towards a cure will all be there. It is an opportunity to celebrate another year of living our best possible lives with the disease. It is also a time to remember those from our community and their families who we have lost. Mostly, it is a time of good fun and celebration that you can live well with Parkinson’s Disease!

Last year the Hope Soars Gala raised over $22,000, all of which was directly invested in the following:

  • The Hope Soars Fund for Parkinson’s Research at Albany Med. The work conducted by Eric Molho, MD, and Damian Shin, PhD is at the forefront of Parkinson’s research.

  • The Help for Parkinson’s newsletter and website.

  • Funding numerous programs at the Capital District, Saratoga Regional, and Glens Falls YMCA branches that directly help those dealing with the progressive nature of Parkinson’s Disease.

  • Funding exercise programs such as Schott’s Boxing, yoga, and dance.

  • Financial assistance for Parkinson’s Support Groups.

  • The Living Well with Parkinson’s symposium held in April.

Help for Parkinson’s is 100% donor supported and your donations are crucial in keeping our programs funded, as well as introducing new programs where needed. Our goal is to raise even more money than last year’s Gala. Help for Parkinson’s is a 501c3, not-for-profit organization and your donation above the ticket price of $150 is tax-deductible within the guidelines of tax laws.

Thank you for your consideration and look forward to seeing you there.

Be well,

Mark and Steve
